Message-It is my pleasure to welcome you all on the University.Cradled and nourished under the lap of Mother Narmada in the serene surroundings of picturesque beauty of the hills and forests amidst the tribe- inhabited area, the University has a promise to keep. The tribes are rich in culture, art and craft. But the scenario regarding their modern education is abysmal. They are lagging far behind their brothers of their vicinity.In view of this fact the University has resolved to provide an extended opportunity of higher education to the tribal youth so that they can march forward to meet the future challenges in every walk of life. At the same time the university is open to all sections of the society. We are committed to build up our institution upon the ideal of the spiritual unity of all people, beyond the bounds of caste, creed or ethnicity.

About The University-The Indira Gandhi National TribalUniversity, Amarkantak has been established by an Act of the Parliament of India. It came into existence by the Indira Gandhi National Tribal University Act, 2007 and came into action with the appointment of Prof. C. D. Singh as its first Vice-Chancellor on July 8th, 2008. The jurisdiction of the University extends to the whole country and it is fully funded by the Central Government through the University Grant Commission. The university caters to the tribals’ long cherished dream of higher education
